History

The Ethical Culture movement was founded in 1876 in New York City, with Felix Adler as the first Leader and with members who came from a variety of religious backgrounds: Jewish, Christian, freethinking. The movement today is not bound by the historical ideas, but many of those early ideas remain influential.
